Middle School CS Scholarship

UTeach Computer Science and WeTeach_CS are offering scholarships to provide CS professional development for Texas middle school teachers! Limited spots are available so submit your application as soon as possible!

Texas middle school teachers from any background can apply to participate in hands-on activities to craft algorithms through interactive games, code with Python and Scratch, explore cybersecurity basics in engaging projects, and navigate robots through thrilling challenges. Educators will discover innovative teaching models and AI integrations to transform their classrooms into hubs of creativity and critical thinking. Participants will walk away with ready-to-use activities, practical instructional strategies, AI tools, and a STEM kit for their classrooms. 

Teacher Benefits:

  • $650 teacher stipend
  • ($1,000 value) Free professional development, along with 28 hours of CPE credit (continuing professional education)
  • ($250 value) Free STEM kit with the resources and robots used in the workshop 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be teaching at a middle school in the state of Texas during the 2025–26 academic year.  
  • You must fully attend the professional development workshop.
    • Dates: July 14–17, 2025 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
    • Location: West Pickle Research Building, 3925 W Braker Ln, Austin, TX 78759
  • Preference will be given to middle teachers scheduled to teach CS or Technology Applications courses in the 2025–26 academic year. 

Travel and Workshop Details:

  • All travel costs, lodging costs, and dinner costs are the responsibility of the participant (stipend is intended to offset costs for non-locals).
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants. Parking costs will be covered.
  • Stipend will be initiated after participants fully complete the workshop and the Payee Information Form.
